ADCO, American Development Company (ADCO) is a family owned and operated real estate development, investment and management company. Originally founded as American Refrigerator company in 1906, it was the Philadelphia area's largest distributor and installer of case refrigeration systems in local supermarkets. Through their relationships in the supermarket industry, the principals of American Refrigerator saw an opportunity to develop and invest in grocery anchored, community shopping centers.
In the early 1990's ADCO, American Development Company was formed to oversee and manage it's growing real estate portfolio. By the late 1990's, American Refrigerator Company ceased operations and ADCO, American Development Company became a full-time real estate company. Today, ADCO owns and manages a real estate portfolio consisting of approximately one million square feet of shopping centers, net-leased pad sites, flex industrial and mixed-use properties.
ADCO directly invests in new developments with its own capital and also looks to joint venture with strategic partners and outside equity.
